Programme Thesis
The FRIAS Early Career Fellowship funds postdoctoral researchers to spend 4-10 months at the University of Freiburg, providing time, resources, and access to an interdisciplinary academic community to pursue a self-defined research project. It exists to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and support early-career scholars in developing their independent research agenda.
Selection Criteria
- Completed doctoral degree (PhD) and maximum of 8 years of post-doctoral experience.
- At least 4 peer-reviewed publications since 1 January 2021.
- At least 6 months of research/study experience in a country different from the country of first academic degree.
- Challenging and innovative research project of top academic quality.
- Strictly merit-based selection, expected success rate ~10%.
- Full-time presence at FRIAS is mandatory during the fellowship.
- Applications from any discipline that can be supported at the University of Freiburg; alignment with university research strengths is encouraged.
