· The 2026 Merck Research Grants call defines five fixed, highly specific topics: (1) in-vitro models for neuroinflammatory diseases, (2) AI in cell culture media and process development, (3) remediation of contaminated high-volume materials, (4) condensate-based cell-free screening for protein-protein interactions, and (5) Synthia® retrosynthesis software access. None of these topics align with the applicant's CCT addiction-pharmacology research. Additionally, the programme explicitly requires affiliation with 'a research-based institution, university or company'; independent researcher status without confirmed institutional backing from ZYCO may constitute a second hard blocker.
